Okay, ADII kids, you’ve read Stella Adler’s The Technique of Acting, right? Good, because you’re going to need it.
Spearman has sent me the auditions and I have passed them on to you. Read it carefully and then notify him you have read it by doing what the document says.
If you would like to audition for C.C. Showers, Buddy, or Jennie Mae, your auditions will be on August 7th and 8th- you’ll be at school anyway for registration. Times will be announced later.
The other roles, I assume, will have auditions the first two days of school. But plan on auditioning those earlier days too- Spearman asks us to audition for more than one role.
The audition material is as follows-
Pages 18-19, Buddy and C.C.
Pages 38-39, Jennie Mae and C.C (starting from her line, “No-”).
Pages 47-48, Darlene, Dewey, and Melvin.
Pages 74-75, Norma, Goldie, and Luella (starting with Norma’s line “Just wait’ll you hear.” and ending with Goldie’s line “Did he ‘touch’ you?”).
He will ask for some other cold reading.
All auditions should be memorized and well-rehearsed.
